Sponsored Search Ads
Using sponsored search ads is a great tool for anyone who has a website. The purpose of search ads is to get more people to come to a website. The downside to it is, you have to pay for it. Your ultimate goal is to be able to come your website without having to pay for it. But if you are a website owner and you have a product or service to sell, then you may want to use search ads.
As more and more people use the internet, sponsored search ads has become increasingly more popular. Pay-per-click, or PPC, advertising has become a very important part online marketing. In a matter of minutes, a website owner can find out what people are searching for, and in response advertise to them. Even the smallest of businesses can how have their ads displayed right next to the bigger companies.
Using sponsored search ads is a complex subject and too complicated for me to get into here. But it pretty much comes down to advertising. PPC ads can be anything from a simple text link on a website, a ad in the search engine results, a banner ad, or a classified ad.
Here is the basics of how PPC advertising works.
When a person goes to a search engine like Google or Yahoo, they enter a word or two on the subject of what they are searching for. That word or words is called keywords. The search engines then search out websites that have those keywords. It could be in the URL of the website, the title page or heading, or in the content of the website itself. The search engines have very complex mathimatical formulas that take a lot of criteria into consideration and in return display a set of results. Those results are then displayed in the order that the search engine thinks most closely matches the keyowrd you were looking for.
With PPC advertising, a website owner pays to have their website shown in those results. The beauty of PPC search results is, no matter how many times their ad is shown, a advertiser only pays for the add when someone clicks on it. Hence the name, pay-per-click. Using PPC does not in any way guarantee vistors or sales. It is merely a way to advertise to a targeted market.
An advertiser (website owner) sets up an account with a search engine. They then input a list of keywords that they will want their ad displayed for. They will also enter a price for which they are willing to pay for each click. Depending on the keyword, this will vary greatly. The more they are willing to pay, the higher on the search results the ad will appear. When a user enters a keyword to search for, the search engines also display the PPC ads for that keyword.
There are a lot of factors that go into PPC advertising. There are even whole books on the sunject. But if you want to start generating more traffic to your website and you are willing to pay for that traffic, then using sponsored search ads is the way to go.
